Objective

Expand the evidence base beyond the current 30 grey lit docs and 2,415 snowball articles.

Grey Literature Gaps

  • PACER court filings: full superseding indictments, plea agreements, sentencing memos for Jenson, Gehrke, Vohra, Nasser, Patel
  • State AG enforcement: state-level fraud cases (NY, FL, TX, AZ)
  • CMS Transmittals: specific claims processing instructions for skin subs
  • MAC articles: contractor-specific billing guidance and educational materials
  • FDA 510(k) summaries and PMA decisions for key products
  • Congressional testimony: House Ways & Means, Senate Finance hearings on Medicare fraud
  • DOJ whistleblower complaints (qui tam actions under FCA)
  • Industry financial disclosures: Organogenesis, MiMedx SEC filings

Deeper Snowball

  • Backward snowball: parse reference lists from included RCTs and reviews
  • Second-generation forward snowball: citations of snowball articles
  • Cross-database: Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Embase for missed articles
  • Google Scholar: grey literature and conference proceedings
  • Preprints: medRxiv, bioRxiv for unpublished analyses

Method

  • Use Zotero Connector for manual grey lit capture
  • NCBI elink for additional snowball rounds
  • Cochrane Library API for systematic reviews
  • Tag all additions with source:snowball-2 or source:grey-lit-expanded
